Research Overview

The Sun Research Group performs research at the intersection of synthetic inorganic, physical and nanomaterials chemistry. Our research primarily focuses on precision synthesis and design of nanocrystalline solids with atomic precisions. Leveraging molecular ligand chemistry and solid-state chemistry in colloidal synthesis, we seek to synthesize innovative nanomaterials that are fundamentally unique and practically useful. Our expertise in the precision synthesis and rational design of nanosolids promotes atomistic understanding of chemical reactivity, formation path, stabilization mechanism, and surface/interface control. These insights lay foundations for unveiling precise structure–activity relationships and identifying novel design principles to enhanced energyphotonics and catalysis applications. Below are the main projects that we are currently working on, and check out the Publications page for our latest research.
